Section 1 - Management Structure

.1 The Vice-Chancellor and President, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellors, Deans, Associate Deans

The Vice-Chancellor and President is the principal Academic and Administrative Officer and Chair of Senate.

The Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor is normally chosen from the serving Pro-Vice-Chancellors (PVCs) and Deans and is appointed for three years in the first instance. The PVCs are normally appointed from among the professors of the University, for a period of three years in the first instance. PVCs assist the Vice-Chancellor in the strategic management of the University and have designated areas of responsibility. The Provost has a broad policy brief for planning and strategic resources issues. There is one PVC with responsibility for research (PVC(R)), one with responsibility for teaching (PVC(T)) and one with responsibility for Enterprise (PVC(E)). One of the principal functions of the Provost and PVCs is to represent the Vice-Chancellor at decision-making bodies.

There are ten academic Schools within the University.  Each School has a Senior Management Team which will comprise the Dean of School, Associate Dean (Teaching), Associate Dean (Research), Associate Dean (Enterprise), Operations Manager and Heads of Department.

There is an additional AD(T) with concern for the University's partnership with the British University in Egypt (BUE).

All Deans of School are members of the Academic Leadership Team (ALT), which is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor.

Further detail is available in the Loughborough University Management Chart.
