Accommodation & Living Costs

At a Glance

Several students sit down to breakfast in the kitchen of a self catered hall.

No two students behave in the same way where spending money is concerned! The type of accommodation you choose, your hobbies, any clubs/societies you join and how often you go out in the evenings will all have an impact on how much money you spend.

One of the costs which need to be met is that of accommodation. Whether you choose catered or self-catered accommodation, the overall cost is likely to be much the same once self-catered students take the cost of food into account. The following section gives a breakdown of a typical student's living costs. Whilst this is unlikely to apply precisely to you, it may be useful as a guide.

Other Factors

The majority of halls of residence at Loughborough are on the University campus itself. As well as contributing to a lively and friendly atmosphere, the ability to walk to lecture halls and other facilities greatly reduces travel costs.
