Postgraduate funding (taught programme)
DFID / Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme
For entry in 2010 there are two full fee and maintenance scholarships available under this scheme. Awards are jointly sponsored by the Department for International Development and Loughborough University .
This scheme is intended to help students from developing commonwealth countries to undertake a one year taught Masters degree. The degree must be related to the economic and social development of the scholars home country.
Eligibility
Applicants should:
- Be a national of, or be permanently domiciled in, a developing commonwealth country
- Not currently be living or studying in a developed country
- Not be employed by a government or state-funded organisation
- Intend to return to your home country as soon as the award ends
- Hold a first or upper second class degree
- Be in receipt of, and have accepted, an offer of a place to study on one of the following full time postgraduate taught Masters degree programmes:
- MSc Construction Management
- MSc Environmental Monitoring for Management
- MSc Environmental Studies
- MSc Global Transformations
- MSc International Financial & Political Relations
- MSc Renewable Energy Systems Technology
- MSc Sustainable Infrastructure Services Management
- MSc Sustainability in the Built Environment
- MSc Sustainable Transport & Travel Planning
- MSc Water & Waste Engineering
- MSc Water & Environmental Management
- Be aged below 35 at the start of the course, although priority will be given to those below 30 years of age
- Be unable to meet the tuition fees and related costs yourself or with family assistance

Applying
- From the beginning of December 2009 you will be able to submit your application using the Electronic Application System (EAS). Information on this can be found online
