Application Fee Guidance
Why do I have to pay an application fee?
The application fee is to pay for the processing of your application by the Postgraduate Taught Admissions Office and the School of Business and Economics.
Do I have to pay an application fee for all postgraduate taught programmes offered by Loughborough University?
No, the application fee is only charged for full-time postgraduate taught masters, diploma or certificate programmes offered by the School of Business and Economics. Programmes offered by other academic schools are not liable for an application fee. Short or part-time courses offered by the School of Business and Economics are not liable for an application fee.
Do I have to pay an application fee if I am applying for a research degree with Loughborough University?
No, the application fee is only charged for full-time taught programmes in the School of Business and Economics, not research programmes.
If I apply through an Agent, does my Agent have to pay the application fee?
No. Your Agent does not have to pay the fee on your behalf – you can pay it independently if you wish. If you wish to pay the fee yourself once your Agent has submitted your application, you can do so. We will not send your application for academic consideration until we receive payment of the fee, so please ensure it is paid soon after your application is submitted by your Agent.
If I want to apply for more than one programme, can I make a payment via the on-line store for multiple applications?
No, you can only pay for one application at a time. This is so that we can match up the fee paid with your application. However, you should be aware that it is not necessary to apply for more than one Business programme and more than one Economics programme.
Management
If you apply for one of the following programmes, your application will be carefully considered, and you will be offered the most appropriate programme suited to your academic background:
- MSc Business Analysis and Management
- MSc Finance and Management
- MSc International Management
- MSc Management
- MSc Marketing and Management
You will not be made an offer for more than one of the above programmes, so multiple applications will be wasted.
Economics
If you apply for one of the following programmes, your application will be carefully considered, and you will be offered the most appropriate programme suited to your academic background:
- MSc Economics
- MSc Economics and Finance
- MSc Banking and Finance
- MA Banking and Financial Markets
- MA Money, Banking and Finance
- Diploma in Economics
You will not be made an offer for more than one of the above programmes, so multiple applications will be wasted.
Can I only pay my application fee via the on-line store?
Yes.
If I don’t have a credit or debit card, can I pay by cheque or bank transfer?
No, payment will only be accepted through the on-line store via a credit or debit card.
If I apply for one programme and then decide I want to apply for another programme instead, will I have to pay the fee again?
If you change your mind and ask to be considered for an alternative programme within the School of Business and Economics, we will cancel your application for the original programme, and consider you for the alternative programme with no further charge. If you originally applied for a programme not offered by the School of Business and Economics, we will ask you to pay an application fee before we send your application to the School of Business and Economics for academic consideration.
If I apply for one programme and then decide I want to apply for another programme as well, will I have to pay the fee again?
If you ask us to consider you for an alternative programme within the School of Business and Economics in addition to the original programme for which you applied, we will ask you to pay a new application fee via the on-line store before we send your application to the School of Business and Economics for academic consideration.
How will you know I have paid my application fee?
To pay the application fee via the On-line Store you will be asked to set up a new account and password. This is not the same account you set up to create your on-line application, but to make it easy to identify your application, you should use the same email address when you set it up.
When you pay your fee, you will also be asked for unique information which we will also use to identify that you have paid your fee. You will receive an automatic email from the on-line store to say that your payment has been received. Your application will then be passed to the School of Business and Economics for academic consideration.
Is the application fee refundable if I am not offered a place?
No, the application fee is a one-off charge for the University to process your application. If you are not made an offer you will not get a refund. If you are not sure whether your academic qualifications meet the minimum entry requirements for the programme for which you wish to apply, please check the on-line prospectus before submitting an application: http://www.lboro.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/courses/
If I am successful in gaining a place at Loughborough University, will the application fee go towards paying my tuition fees?
No, the application fee is a one-off charge for the University to process your application. It will not be set against your tuition fees if you take up a place at the University.
If I decide to defer my entry for a year after I have applied, will I have to pay another application fee?
No, if you make one application and then ask us to defer your entry for a year, we will not ask you to pay another application fee.
