Loughborough University is committed to providing students with every opportunity to achieve their full potential – professionally, intellectually and socially.
Loughborough offers students a truly unique experience, combining a first class education with an extensive programme of extra-curricular activities, a fantastic campus environment and the best Students’ Unions in the country.
Loughborough Students’ Union was named top in the country in the 2014 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, which are voted for exclusively by students. Loughborough was also rated second for the Union’s clubs and societies and for University’s facilities.
All of our Times Higher Awards relate to the student experience at Loughborough - we believe there is no better place in the UK to be a university student.
With a large single-site campus encompassing halls for over 5,000 students, a huge range of sports and entertainment facilities, and one of the biggest independently owned Student’s Unions in the UK, Loughborough prides itself on the experience we are able to give each and every student.
Students living off-campus are equally involved in campus activities, and have the additional support from Community Wardens.
The Loughborough Experience
Loughborough Students' Union plays a key part in creating the ‘Loughborough Student Experience’. It is one of the only Unions in the UK to be owned and managed by the students, offering a variety of support services, more than 100 clubs and societies and a packed programme of social events.
The fundraising arm of the Students’ Union, Loughborough Rag, is the most successful student fundraising organisation in the country. In 2013-14 it raised £1,411,510 for local and national charities, breaking its own national record.
Best Student Experience
Loughborough is the only university to have been voted England's Best Student Experience for six consecutive years in the Times Higher Education league table.
Loughborough was rated highly by its students for its extra-curricular activities, the campus environment, the social life, the students’ union and the library, as well as having good connections with industry. The University’s sports facilities were also highly rated.
The University was also awarded Best International Students’ Union of the Year in 2009, and in 2008 we were credited as being the greenest Students’ Union in the country by the National Union of Students.
