Working with the community
Our aim is to make a significant contribution to the social and economic wellbeing of the town and the wider region.
With more than 2,500 staff, our University is the town’s largest employer and we contribute significantly to the local economy. We have more than 16,500 students and approximately 1,800 of whom are studying part-time, and including just over 2,300 students from overseas.
Members of the community can access our campus facilities, including world class sports facilities and attend a variety of events held here each year.
The Students’ Union organises many community projects across the town to support the region. These include woodland management days, litter-picking sessions and tea dances for pensioners.
We want to be a good citizen and a responsible neighbour so we are committed to developing good relationships with residents, Charnwood Borough Council, the Police and other authorities in the town.
